Industrial SWP3:

If you perform an industrial activity, your facility is most likely required to obtain coverage under the Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) to authorize storm water discharges. As part of obtaining coverage under the MSGP, your facility is required to develop and maintain a SWP3. In addition to meeting the general requirements in the MSGP, your SWP3 must also meet sector specific requirements which are based on your facility’s Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes.

Construction SWP3:

If you perform a construction activity that disturbs more than 1 acre of soil, you are required to obtain coverage under a Construction General Permit (CGP). As a part of obtaining coverage under the CGP, you must develop and maintain a SWP3. The requirements of your SWP3 may vary depending on whether your activity is designated a “Small Construction Activity” or “Large Construction Activity.” Determination as to whether an activity is deemed as “small” or “large” is based on the area of soil that is disturbed.
